Alcyone is a minimalist wall lamp made of natural alabaster, part of our new Pleiades collection – a series of lamps inspired by the stars. The Pleiades cluster is visible to the naked eye and has fascinated astronomers and stargazers for centuries. Each model is named after one of the stars in the cluster, and Alcyone stands out as the brightest. Its pure, intense glow served as the inspiration for this unique wall lamp.

The Alcyone wall lamp resembles a small sculpture – simple, harmonious, and elegant. It is crafted from Spanish alabaster, known for its exceptional light-transmitting quality. When illuminated, the lamp produces a soft, gentle glow reminiscent of starlight. The mounting is completely invisible, allowing full attention to remain on the alabaster and its natural texture. As a result, the wall lamp appears to float on the wall like a luminous form suspended in space.

Alcyone is available in two versions. Patterned alabaster features a pronounced, natural veining with organic lines and subtle tonal transitions, ideal for interiors where material depth and individuality matter. White alabaster is calm and understated, yet retains the natural character of the stone. It pairs beautifully with other natural materials and textures, enhancing the space with subtle charm without competing with them.

Did you know that…

…alabaster is a compact, translucent, white or slightly coloured mineral that is a fine-grained variety of gypsum? Lampshades made from a single block of stone vary both in colour, which can take on pinkish, slightly beige and often completely white tones, and in texture – some shapes are crossed by dark veins, others remain in a uniform light tone. Each illuminated inside intrigues with a different drawing. The colour of the bulb can accentuate their pure white or give them a very warm honey glow.

Due to the natural properties of alabaster, small more heavily calcified clusters of less transparent grains sometimes appear inside the walls of the lampshade; these are more visible when the lamp is lit, but they are not a defect of the lampshade, merely a natural consequence of the construction of the material from which they are made.
